 </strong>
 The Undergraduate Research Assistant will be responsible for providing support/assistance to a post-doctoral fellow and help aide in their laboratory research duties. The undergraduate researcher is expected to become familiarized with animal behavioral models, mouse surgical technique, and calcium imaging data analysis. This research opportunity offers students the chance to gain experience in conducting biomedical research, preparing them for a future in pursuit of a graduate degree in a biology field or to prepare them for their path to medical school upon completion of their undergraduate degree.

  Responsibilities

 </strong>

   Conduct a variety of behavioral tests with mice.
  </li>
  <li>
   Analyze calcium imaging data, either in-person or remotely.
  </li>
  <li>
   Perform mouse surgery on brain and spinal cord regions.
  </li>
  <li>
   Collaborate closely with the post-doctoral fellow to plan and modify research techniques and procedures.
  </li>
  <li>
   Schedule, organize, and report on the status of research activities, maintaining lab notebooks.
  </li>
  <li>
   Ensure personal and collective safety within the work area.
  </li>
  <li>
   Fulfill requirements for animal and surgery training/certification.
  </li>
  <li>
   Participate in the publication and presentation of research findings at conferences/meetings.
  </li>
  <li>
   Regularly meet with the faculty supervisor to maintain ongoing communication regarding progress and performance.
