Top Interview Questions
A: When troubleshooting network connectivity issues, I start by checking the physical connections, ensuring cables are properly seated and undamaged. I use tools like a multimeter and cable testers to measure signal strength and identify potential problems. If issues persist, I check switch configurations and logs for errors. Lastly, I collaborate with the network team to resolve complex issues.
A: In my previous role, I mentored junior technicians by using a hands-on approach. I would invite them to shadow me during troubleshooting tasks, providing step-by-step explanations. I also encouraged them to ask questions and emphasized the importance of documentation. This not only helped them learn but also built their confidence in handling similar issues independently in the future.
A: I once encountered a server that would not boot due to a corrupted OS. I booted the server in recovery mode to access the root directory. I checked system logs and identified a failed disk that needed replacing. After swapping the disk, I reinstalled the OS from a backup and restored services. This systematic approach helped minimize downtime and ensure a smooth recovery.
A: Best practices include establishing daily and weekly cleaning schedules to ensure all aisles and equipment are easily accessible and free from dust. Regular audits are crucial to assess compliance with cleanliness protocols. I also encourage team members to report any issues immediately and use color-coded labeling to enhance organization and quick identification of servers.
A: I prioritize tasks based on urgency and impact on operations. I assess which servers or issues affect critical services first, using SLA agreements as a guideline. I also communicate with the involved teams to gather information on the most pressing needs and regularly update them on my progress to ensure everyone is aligned on priorities.
