Top Interview Questions

  • Q: Can you explain your experience with Data Warehousing systems and how you apply data migration concepts in your projects?

A: I have over 6 years of experience with Data Warehousing systems, including designing ETL processes to move data from various sources into a centralized data warehouse. For instance, in my previous role, I implemented a data migration project that involved extracting data from legacy systems, transforming it to fit the new schema, and loading it into Snowflake. I utilized best practices such as data validation post-migration to ensure data integrity.

  • Q: How do you approach creating test automation frameworks for ETL processes?

A: I approach creating test automation frameworks for ETL processes by first identifying key data validation points within the pipeline. I use tools like iCEDQ for automated validation and Python for scripting. I design tests to compare source and target data, ensuring transformations meet business requirements. Additionally, I incorporate logging and reporting capabilities to track results and facilitate easy debugging.

  • Q: Can you describe your experience with SQL and how you leverage it for data validation in testing?

A: I have strong SQL skills and regularly use it for data validation in testing. I write complex queries to ensure data integrity by comparing records in the source and target systems. For example, during a recent project, I utilized SQL to aggregate data from multiple tables and confirm that the counts matched before and after ETL processes. This helped ensure accuracy and completeness of data.

  • Q: What methodologies do you follow for implementing Behavior Driven Development (BDD) in your testing practices?

A: In my previous projects, I implement BDD by collaborating with stakeholders to define clear, user-centric requirements that guide our test cases. I utilize frameworks like Cucumber to create feature files that describe desired functionality in plain English. This approach ensures alignment with business needs and facilitates communication between technical and non-technical teams, resulting in higher quality outcomes.

  • Q: How do you use reporting tools like OBIEE and Power BI to support data quality insights in your projects?

A: I utilize reporting tools like OBIEE and Power BI to create interactive dashboards that visualize data quality metrics. For instance, I developed a series of reports that tracked data accuracy and completeness over time, allowing stakeholders to quickly identify areas needing improvement. These insights help maintain high standards of data quality and inform decision-making processes within the organization.
