Job Description

<h3>ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST - REMEDIATION | ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS</h3> <p>Reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.</p> <ul> <li>Communicate with Project Managers, regulators, clients, field technicians, and vendors/subcontractors in the office.</li> <li>Help plan sampling and data collection for air, vapor, soil, surface water, stormwater, groundwater, hazardous waste, non-aqueous phase liquids (NAPLs), and wastewater for laboratory testing.</li> <li>Properly review paperwork to document field activities (field logbook, soil/rock boring logs, well construction diagrams, etc.).</li> <li>Apply scientific and engineering principles to the design, collection, and interpretation of environmental data.</li> <li>Apply standard practices and techniques in specific situations, adjust and correlate data, recognize discrepancies in results, and follow operations through a series of related detailed steps or processes.</li> <li>Aid in troubleshooting, operations, and maintenance of mechanical and electronic systems including pumps, remediation systems, and monitoring equipment.</li> <li>Complete monitoring, remediation, and compliance activities, including but not limited to: <ul> <li>Collection of environmental media for laboratory analysis. Media include soil, groundwater, surface water, vapor, air, stormwater, and wastewater</li> <li>Overseeing planning for drilling operations, monitoring/recovery well construction, site surveying, and remedy construction</li> <li>Soil and rock core logging</li> <li>Remedial system operation and maintenance</li> <li>Documentation, packaging, and shipping of environmental samples, proper management, characterization, and handling of waste (hazardous and non-hazardous)</li> </ul> </li> </ul> <h3>ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST - REMEDIATION | COMPETENCIES</h3> <ul> <li>Ability to work in an office environment.</li> <li>Must be extremely reliable and have a curiosity for problem-solving, possess a strong desire to learn and succeed, pay attention to detail, and maintain a high level of energy/engagement.</li> <li>Strong organizational and problem-solving skills, including being mechanically inclined and resourceful in diagnosing and correcting issues that arise in the field.</li> <li>Effective communication skills, both oral and written.</li> <li>Ability to read and interpret work plans, maps, designs, and construction documents.</li> <li>Effective time-management skills, with the ability to multi-task and maintain flexibility in a dynamic work environment.</li> <li>Preparation of clear, concise reports that include tabular, numerical, and graphical presentation and analysis of environmental data.</li> <li>Ability to interact with co-workers effectively, professionally, and positively, clients, vendors, the public, and other business contacts.</li> </ul> <h3>ASSOCIATE SCIENTIST - REMEDIATION | POSITION TYPE AND EXPECTED HOURS OF WORK</h3> <ul> <li>This is a full-time position. Ability to regularly lift and carry 50 pounds.
