Job Description

<h3>This person will be responsible for:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Ensuring that safety is a priority. Supporting the Adams Land & Cattle Safety Program and exemplifying safety expectations. Reporting safety incidents to Farming/Manure Management Manager.</li>
<li>Performing general agronomy skills, including, but not limited to: field scouting for weeds, insects, disease, and nutritional issue, measuring plant populations, completing plant tissue analysis, and harvest maturity staging.</li>
<li>Assisting with development of planting and irrigation prescriptions and schedules.</li>
<li>Assisting with management of field trials.</li>
<li>Gathering, compiling, analyzing, and interpreting crop production data to better understand crop needs and developing effective and efficient farming practices.</li>
<li>Examining, researching, and solving problems related to crop management, yield, and quality.</li>
<li>Interacting with suppliers, applicators, and agronomy laboratories.</li>
<li>Remaining up to date on crop nutrition and production technologies.</li>
<li>Completing planting, fertilizing/chemigation, herbicide/insecticide application, cultivating, irrigating, chopping, harvesting, haying, strip tilling and planting cover crops in a production farming setting.</li>
<li>Operating GPS-controlled farming equipment.</li>
<li>Completing preparatory dirt work, field maintenance, and improvement projects.</li>
<li>Hauling silage.</li>
<li>Spreading manure per outlined plan.</li>
<li>Maintaining equipment and vehicles in a good state of repair to prevent unnecessary downtime by ensuring they are utilized, cleaned, greased, and washed properly.</li>
<li>Ensuring preventative maintenance and repair work are completed in a timely fashion to prevent unnecessary downtime.</li>
<li>Completing annual equipment rebuild schedule during winter months.</li>
<li>Maintaining pond effluent pumps/infrastructure, completing effluent pipeline inspection and pumping of sludge, as required.</li>
<li>Assisting with completing required inspections, logs and records, including, but not limited to corn/fertilizer/insecticide application, effluent pipeline inspections, effluent application, manure/effluent testing, sludge/pond levels, pond inspections, chemigation permits, irrigation water testing and bank inspections.</li>
<li>Spraying and/or other seasonal activities.</li>
<li>Communicating with all areas/departments.</li>
<li>Respectfully collaborating with internal and external resources, as appropriate. Building and maintaining strong internal and external business relationships.</li>
<li>Maintaining work areas in an organized, clean, and safe fashion.</li>
<li>Identifying continuous improvement opportunities in work area.</li>
<li>Completing other duties, as assigned.</li>
<li>Recognizing that weather conditions may require constant change in activities and that cattle comfort is first and foremost regarding this activity.</li>
<li>Supporting all efforts needed during storm recovery.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Ideal candidate would possess the following qualifications:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Commitment to safety and quality culture.</li>
<li>Knowledgeable about corn crop productions, including all the variables involved such as soil and land management, nutrient and water needs, pest control and minimizing environmental impact.</li>
<li>Strong research, decision making, critical thinking and problem-solving skills.</li>
<li>Awareness of industry trends, technology, and developments.</li>
<li>Previous farming experience.</li>
<li>Familiar with the day-to-day crop production operations.</li>
<li>Mechanical interest and aptitude with a knowledge of general mechanics.</li>
<li>Pivot irrigation experience preferred.</li>
<li>Experience with GPS-controlled equipment preferred.</li>
<li>Driven, organized, action-orientated, analytical, and ability to multi-task.</li>
<li>High attention to detail.</li>
<li>Team-oriented.</li>
<li>Strong communication and customer service skills.</li>
<li>Proven professional communication, presentation, persuasion, and customer service skills.</li>
</ul>
<h3>This position requires:</h3>
<ul>
<li>A valid drivers license.</li>
<li>Exerting 50-100 pounds of force occasionally, 25-50 pounds of force frequently and 10-20 pounds of force constantly.</li>
<li>Standing, sitting, walking, carrying, and lifting/lowering frequently; pushing/pulling, bending, twisting, climbing, reaching/handling/grasping, and kneeling/crouching occasionally; crawling and stairs rarely. Individual must be able to work in adverse weather conditions.</li>
</ul>
<h3>Compensation Details:</h3>
<ul>
<li>Starting Wage: $20.00-$25.00 per hour.</li>
<li>$5,000 Hiring Bonus.</li>
