  Director, Business Development

 , you will secure and retain business for PPD through professional, consultative, proactive sales activities focused on decision-makers and decision influencers at existing and new clinical sponsors. You will position PPD as a primary or preferred provider for all clinical development work to be outsourced, qualifying deals and developing proposals including defining the solutions and recommending pricing structures to meet strategic company goals.

 The sales territory for this role will cover some of our key markets across Europe, and may include some of the following: UK, France, DACH, BeNeLux, and Nordics. We have flexibility on which specific territory is assigned and will tailor it to the candidate. Candidates can be based anywhere in Europe, providing you live close to an international airport and are willing to travel as required (c.3 days per week on the road, including overnight stays).

   Lead RFP strategy calls, develop client proposals, prepare client presentations, and negotiate and close contracts
  </li>
  <li>
   Sign new business authorizations at or above assigned authorization goal
  </li>
  <li>
   Make cold calls and client visits; maintain sales database; maintain cold call and client visit activity reports
  </li>
  <li>
   Act as a liaison between sponsor and company on all business development activities and requirements
  </li>
  <li>
   Coordinate with the relevant clinical development area(s) to ensure a successful implementation
  </li>
  <li>
   Gather data on marketing trends and driven products / services and pricing
  </li>

   Ensure client happiness through periodic client contact; report and develop recommendations to address client dissatisfaction; respond to all client requests

   Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience and skills
  </li>

   Extensive, senior-level sales experience for the Clinical/CRO/Laboratory Services markets is essential

   Proven track record of developing mid- and high- level business contacts

  <li>
   Demonstrated experience in identifying and developing sales leads, making professional presentations, managing the sales process through close, and handling all aspects of contract negotiations
  </li>
  <li>
   Excellent social skills in order to manage and fully integrate with Operations, Finance, and Marketing, and follow-up to expand relationships and business opportunities
  </li>
  <li>
   Understanding of sales automation systems and Microsoft Office programs.
