  Minimum Qualifications

   Bachelor&rsquo;s degree
  </li>
  <li>
   In possession of appropriate Virginia Teaching Certificate.
  </li>
  <li>
   Tuberculin skin test certifying that the individual is free of contagious tuberculosis.

   In-depth knowledge of the subject(s) to be taught
  </li>
  <li>
   In-depth knowledge of the Adult Basic Education/GED subjects: language arts &ndash; reading, language arts &ndash; writing, mathematics, social studies, and science.
  </li>
  <li>
   Strong background in English or mathematics, preferred.
  </li>
  <li>
   Demonstrate considerable knowledge of the principles and methodologies related to teaching the adult learning. Experience working with the adult learner preferred.
  </li>
  <li>
   Ability to deliver articulate oral presentations and written reports.
  </li>
  <li>
   Knowledgeable in the use of technology and various instructional platforms for adult education and workforce development.

   Plans, designs, and delivers learning-centered instruction to students within the adult education program.
  </li>
  <li>
   Teachers within a flexible learning environment that includes, but is not limited to, virtual/online learning, the hybrid model, and/or in-person format. In person class locations may include school-based or community-based settings.
  </li>
  <li>
   Assesses learning and monitors student progress. Develops instructional focus and support based on adult learner needs.
  </li>
  <li>
   Integrates technology and uses a variety of multimedia resources to enhance instruction.
  </li>
  <li>
   Maintains knowledge and pursues professional development related to content areas taught.
  </li>
  <li>
   Collaborates and communicates effectively with administrators, colleagues, and other stakeholders.
  </li>
  <li>
   Collects, manages, and reports accurate data for program improvement and accountability.
  </li>
  <li>
   Demonstrates an understanding and sensitivity to the needs and circumstances of the adult learner. Establishes a positive rapport with internal and external stakeholders.
  </li>
  <li>
   Adheres to all division and program related policies, including prgram procedures and guildelines for the maintenacne and security of materials, data, records, and equipment.
  </li>
  <li>
   Facilitates and encourages learner interaction in the classroom. Provides direct standards-based instruction to the adult learner. Provides remediation and intervention when needed.
  </li>
  <li>
   Demonstrates an understanding of learner&rsquo;s responsibilities as workers, family members, and community members.
  </li>
  <li>
   Recognizes and accommodates diverse needs, abilities, experiences, and interests of each adult learner.
  </li>
  <li>
   Employs a variety of resources, strategies, and materials to facilitate instruction, learner interaction, and retention.
  </li>
