  • Q: Can you describe how you would approach developing a multimedia journalism piece that resonates with both local communities and broader audiences?

A: To develop a multimedia journalism piece that appeals to both local communities and broader audiences, I would start by identifying relevant local stories that have wider implications. I would conduct thorough research and engage with community members to gather diverse perspectives. Then, I would select the most compelling elements to highlight across various formats—text, audio, and video—ensuring that each platform enhances the storytelling. Finally, I would utilize social media to promote the piece, engaging with the audience for feedback to continually improve our community-focused approach.

  • Q: How do you ensure that the stories you produce reflect the diversity of the communities you cover?

A: To ensure diversity in my storytelling, I prioritize building relationships with a wide range of sources from different backgrounds. I actively seek out voices that may not traditionally be represented in the media, ensuring their stories are told authentically. Additionally, I review my story ideas and narratives through the lens of diversity, asking myself if multiple perspectives are represented and if the audience can relate to the experiences shared.
