<p>About FAIR Health</p><p>FAIR Health, Inc., a national, independent nonprofit organization, was established in October 2009 with the mission to help assure fairness and transparency in health insurance information. FAIR Health has created a database of over 46 billion de-identified private healthcare claim records—the largest in the country—which receives claims monthly and which serves as the foundation for a variety of data products, custom analytics, data studies and consumer tools. FAIR Health has also been certified by the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services as a “Qualified Entity” and thus holds the entire collection of Medicare Parts A, B and D claims from 2013 to the present, which get routinely refreshed. Our standard data modules, custom analytics and technological tools serve all participants in the healthcare sector nationwide; they are licensed to payors, third-party administrators, bill review companies, self-insured employers, government agencies, academic researchers and consultants. Our medical and dental data are used to inform statutes and regulations, healthcare cost indices, fee schedules, benefit and provider network design, practice/facility expansion, health systems research and dispute resolution, among other uses. We also offer a suite of consumer-oriented tools and resources available on our consumer website (fairhealthconsumer.org), as well as a mobile application, which can be licensed by other organizations.</p><p>Summary of Position</p><p>FAIR Health is seeking an individual with a particular interest in health policy, law and/or government to support the organization’s health policy research needs. The Government Relations/Legal Research Analyst will support the organization’s legal and government relations teams by monitoring legislative activity, researching health law and policy topics, key industry litigation trends, and other areas of interest to the organization.</p><p>Primary Responsibilities</p><ul><li>Support the government relations and legal functions of the organization by researching topics of interest to the organization.</li><li>Help identify and monitor topics relating to healthcare and nonprofits that are of interest to the organization.</li><li>Assist in identifying federal and state offices and agencies relating to healthcare, as well as individuals and staffers for outreach.</li><li>Track and analyze legislative and policy updates pertaining to specific topics of interest.</li><li>Prepare summaries of proposed laws and regulations, and complete various research assignments.</li><li>Research statutes, regulations, health policy, litigation matters and news using various online databases (e.g., PoliticoPro, Westlaw).</li><li>Develop and maintain expertise in assigned topic areas.</li><li>Conduct preliminary research to brief colleagues on meetings with new clients.</li><li>Assist executives and management in preparing for internal and external meetings and conferences, including by preparing PowerPoint presentations and talking points.</li><li>Help in researching, writing and editing content for internal and external communications purposes.</li><li>Take on projects from other departments (i.e., writing assignments) to help maintain the smooth and fast-paced operation of the organization.</li><li>Write, edit and proofread materials including emails, one-pagers, and proposals.</li><li>As needed, work across departments within the organization to support high priority projects as they arise.</li><li>Observe information security policies and HIPAA guidelines of conduct to ensure the privacy and security of nonpublic information.</li></ul><p>Knowledge and Skill Requirements</p><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree or equivalent.</li><li>0-3 years of experience.</li><li>Interest in government, law and/or health policy.</li><li>Strong written and verbal communication skills.</li><li>Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work with a team.</li><li>Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.</li><li>Ability to work effectively with remote teams.</li></ul><p>Our office is based in New York City, but we are currently hybrid/remote and open to candidates looking for hybrid and/or fully remote work.
