<h3>Scheduled Hours</h3><p>40</p><h3>Position Summary</h3><p>Monitors network activity and ensures information is protected from unauthorized users. Identify, research, report and resolve security violations. Provides guidance to IT departments on resolutions of violations.</p><h3>Job Description</h3><h3>Primary Duties & Responsibilities</h3><ul><li>Perform security operations monitoring which includes but is not limited to: tracking and monitoring of malicious software, vulnerability scanning, attack detection and log collection.</li><li>Identify potential security risks and report to Information Security Manager.</li><li>Open and track tickets with various IT departments.</li><li>Assist IT departments in the tracking and removal of malicious software.</li><li>Analyze and research to validate active sites and determine whether malicious and determine the best course for blocking.</li><li>Configure server rules for blocking as appropriate.</li><li>Produce reports and metrics concerning incidents and their mitigation.</li><li>Identify trends and make security recommendations to manager.</li><li>Perform other duties as assigned.</li></ul><h3>Preferred Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Bachelor’s degree in related field.</li><li>SANS GIAC, ISC2 SSCP or other security related certification preferred, but not required.</li><li>Relevant work experience in desktop support, systems or network operations.</li><li>Working knowledge of TCP/IP.</li><li>Familiar with networking technologies e.g. Firewalls, VPN concentrators, routers and switches.</li><li>Familiar with systems technologies e.g. e-mail gateways, web services, database servers and file hosting.</li><li>Ability to quickly assess the specific needs of the customer to determine course of action.</li><li>Differentiate between problems and symptoms and develop solutions to address overall problem.</li><li>Strong analytical and problem-solving skills; detailed oriented.</li><li>Ability to resolve routine and complex problems based on existing documentation, training and resources.</li><li>Ability to convert technical information into easily understandable terms.</li><li>Possess an aptitude for patience, professionalism, tactfulness and empathy.</li><li>Must be enthusiastic and committed to helping others.</li><li>Strong team-oriented interpersonal skills; ability to effectively interface with a wide variety of people.</li><li>Possess strong written and oral communication skills; ability to outline situations in terms that can be delivered in both business and technology settings.</li><li>Strong customer focus and ability to manage client expectations.</li></ul><h3>Required Qualifications</h3><ul><li>Associates degree or equivalent and two years of relevant IT work experience.</li></ul><h3>Grade</h3><p>G12</p><h3>Salary Range</h3><p>$58,400.00 - $99,700.00 / Annually</p><p>The salary range reflects base salaries paid for positions in a given job grade across the University.
